Understanding the 2016 Toyota Corolla trim options can be a bit challenging because three of the four trim levels feature sub-trims that allow for even more customization. With a bit more information, however, it is easy to figure out which trim you want out of the four regular options and Special Edition version.
2016 Toyota Corolla L
The base 2016 Toyota Corolla L trim is the only one not available with any sub-trims, as all other models build on it. The exterior of the L starts you off with halogen high beams, LED low-beam headlights, LED running lights, 15-inch steel wheels, and powered accessories. Go inside to get the convenience of air conditioning, auxiliary controls on the steering wheel that tilts and telescopes, 6-way power adjustment for the driver, 4-way power adjustment for the front passenger, and a rear seat that splits 60/40 and folds. While inside, you can use Siri Eyes Free or listen to music via the CD player, auxiliary audio jack, or USB port. The 2016 Toyota Corolla comes with Bluetooth, Entune audio, voice controls, and a 6.1-inch touchscreen.
2016 Toyota Corolla LE
The exterior of the 2016 Toyota Corolla LE stands out from the L with its variable intermittent wipers, 16-inch wheels, and keyless entry. Inside, it gets automatic climate control, cruise control, and the rearview camera. If you want, you can add Entune Plus to the Corolla LE to get Scout GPS Link for connected navigation, HD radio, and satellite radio.
The LE Plus trim gives you alloy wheels and fog lights. It also lets you opt for a Driver Convenience Package with keyless entry plus ignition, a sunroof, a roof-mounted antenna, and Entune Premium Audio. The last of these features has the Entune App Suite and integrated navigation.
The LE Premium has all those features along with SofTex upholstery, heated front seats, and 8-way power adjustment for the driver.
2016 Toyota Corolla LE Eco
Moving up to the Toyota Corolla LE Eco builds on the LE with its own transmission and engine tuning that maximizes efficiency, enhanced aerodynamics, a rear spoiler, and low-rolling-resistance tires.
Choose the LE Eco Plus if you want 16-inch alloy wheels, an Eco mode, and the features of the LE Plus. Picking the Corolla LE Eco Premium has everything on the LE Eco Plus and the LE Premium.
2016 Toyota Corolla S
In terms of regular trims, the Toyota Corolla S is the top option with its sport theme. It builds on the LE and adds some unique styling, a rear spoiler, sport front seats, paddle shifters on a leather steering wheel, sport instrumentation, and a Sport mode.
Consider the S Plus for 17-inch alloys, rear disc brakes, firmer suspension tuning, and the options of the LE Plus. If you have the 6-speed manual transmission, this trim has the Driver Convenience Package, as well. As expected, the S Premium combines everything in the S Plus with the LE Premium.
2016 Toyota Corolla Special Edition
The Special Edition model is available in limited production. It has its own unique badging and builds on the S Plus featuring the CVT. The all-black interior has red contrast stitching and accents.
